The four local guys retained are defender Anaz Hadee and midfielders Shahri Musa, Asraf Rashid and Azlan Alipah...And not sure what Shasi's plan is, but Luis Hicks will likely be deployed as either def or midfielder...
Making his return to S.League is Moroccan striker Laakkad Abdelhadi (above picture right), who was the S.League Player of the Year in 2006 and leading scorer in that same year.
What i don't understand is why woodlands is having to cut budgets for this season and last. We are sponsored by Sembcorp, a billion dollar group of companies, and we are struggling financially? I can understand if a team that is sponsored by FTMS (a small private school) or Five Star Tours (travel agency) to have some constraints but not Sembcorp.
Woodlands have given them EXCELLENT brand exposure- everyday thousands who take the MRT between Marsiling and Woodlands station see their brand splattered all around Woodlands Stadium. But it looks as though Sembcorp don't deserve it one bit.
Something is wrong somewhere. Is the funds mismanaged from the initial sponsorship a couple of years back? If not, why is it that we are budgeting like we don't have any sponsors at all?
Sembcorp's front-man at Woodlands was Francis Gomez, who used to be the club's chairman and was a power figure within Sembcorp itself. See this document, page 14.
After the infamous walkout two (or was it three?) years ago against Tampines Rovers, part of the league disciplinary committee's punishment was to hand Francis Gomez a total ban from showing up at any stadium for the remainder of the season. That might have left him miffed, plus it could have made it awkward for him to explain this to the other bosses at Sembcorp.
So I wouldn't be surprised if the rest of Sembcorp overruled him and decided to end the sponsorship after their last contract runs out, whenever that is.
Oh, and Francis Gomez has already stepped down from chairmanship of the club. Now the boss is Jayadev Unnithan, whom a friend of mine living in Woodlands says is a grassroot leader with no ties to Sembcorp...
So maybe next season, Woodlands will have Northwest CDC's logo plastered onto their jerseys?

Yeah i remember that. Well lets hope they find new sponsors next season. I would sponsor them but i don't want my face all over Woodlands Stadium...
Whatever their sponsorship situation is, I think they might finish well away from the bottom next season. The first XI (have doubts about the squad as a whole though) is strong, and in Noor Ali alone they have someone who can create fifteen goals in a season for them.
Sazali Salleh, Syed Karim, Anaz Hadee, Azlan Alipah, Fajar Sarib...All these guys are seasoned S.League players and with the exception of the last two, are still in their 20s.
