every press release from every s-league event i've read is always "top 10 leagues in asia", "top 10 leagues in asia", etc, etc...
stop patting yourselves on the back, the people which fill the stadiums are punters, not fans. crowds of hundreds at a match is simply pathetic, doesn't matter if you are the top league in asia.
and can we stop the incessant drumming? that's not how you raise the atmosphere, that's just called noise.
i'm not, and can never be an s-league fan. i end up sleepy every time watching an s-league match (yes it is that boring). and the drumming adds to that nauseating factor.
i work in sports marketing, and do sponsors really get a value out of sponsoring an s-league team? my last experience at a home united match: "home united is sponsored by a, b, c, d, e, f, g, h, i, j, k..." i didn't give a shit after c.
the marketing sucks, the activation sucks, and one of the "top 10 leagues in asia" is simply not worth a brand trying to get involved. the way it's potrayed, H-TWO-O has sponsored a gazillion dollars for the amount of space on the jerseys they get. people would rather wear their sunday team jerseys to go out then wear an s-league jersey.
please stop the drumming, and the bus ticket confetti, and droning cheerleaders. let the fans enjoy and cheer when they want to, without the NOISE.
get professional agencies to market the league, not ex-footballers as a favour. they see the league the same way these officials do.
