Re: Brunei DPMM FC 2009
correction there, decades ago it was brunei NT sent by bafa. dpmm is different case, own and budget is all covered by the crown prince. and decades on, dpmm will play to foreign league, after s-league perhaps. $$$ in their hands. while dpmm reserve will play in the b-league.

Re: Brunei DPMM FC 2009
siegfried, in retrospect that with the animosity aimed at DPMM, it could be because they are genuinely a good side, and we are just bitter.
I do admit the participation of foreign teams have with certain extent aid in our progression of football (or some skeptics would think otherwise)
The animosity is channeled not just on DPMM as well as Super Reds and lesser degree Albirex (S) and of course those CSL satellites team of the past.
It is pretty sad we can't have a complete league comprising of 12 local clubs.
It's an age-old debate we had gone through so many times but the bottom line is I don't want to watch a club play here which I cannot associate with.

Re: Brunei DPMM FC 2009
Nothing to correct as far as I can tell, because it just means Bruneian football isn't determined enough to get its own domestic system done right.
Singapore could have chosen the same route. No one did, and I think we're the better for it. Can't say the same about Brunei.
Oh, and may I mention that I actually like seeing Super Reds and Albirex play. They're great inspirations. DPMM, not so much.Last edited by giggsrox; 03-07-2009 at 01:42 PM.

Re: Brunei DPMM FC 2009
well.. i really dont know what to say... as a dpmm FC fan i would like to thank S-league for accepting DPMM to play in their league.
yes the Brunei Domestic league is no where compared to S-league and its our own fault really... cus no one really supports the other teams unless they are friends and family of the team.
I appologize if the insertion of DPMM FC in the S-league makes the league more uncomfortable for all of the singaporeans. and i my self would feel the same way towards any foreign teams who are playing in the domestic league.
but its a tournament.. and we are in it... we would still try our best to reach the best position in the league. its a game, someone has to win and someone has to lose...

Re: Brunei DPMM FC 2009
Like I have say before, the playing style of DPMM is quite different from the other foreign sides.
The Albirex and Super Reds team, throughout these years, are basically attacking team. They keep the ball well, do those nice little passes, but probably because of the better strikers in their country won't come here, their shooting and finishing are always
. The local clubs response to this will be like we always do internationally from U-14 to the full NT: sit back, defend deep and hit them on the counter or with set-piece.
DPMM is different as they are the sit back, defend deep and hit them on the counter or with set-piece team. The different in style makes them difficult to cope at first, explaining their good start to the season. However as teams learn more about them, I would expect DPMM to gradually drop down the table, ending between fourth to sixth, depending on whether Super Reds can score more and whether Home United can get their act together to mount a serious charge in the league.

Re: Brunei DPMM FC 2009
Everyone is also forgetting that none of the invited team so far is illegible to sign foreign players with the rule bending only for DPMM.
This made the run Super Reds had last year even more admirable.
The quartet of foreign players (with the exception of Doggy) had been making the most impact (aside of SAF and Gombak), but if those few were taken out I really wonder if the team can be at where they are now.

Re: Brunei DPMM FC 2009
well, foreign players obviously help a team to improve either ways esp. individually.
unlike super reds and albirex, why they are not given a green light to have a foreign player must have a great reasons why fas excused them. are'nt they are the reserve team from the J league and K league? their first team is doing great on their mainland. hence, s-league is their ground to produced talent players for their first team.(correct me) Unlike dpmm fc, they are same as local s-league clubs, they need foreign players to improve. No one have to be blame, fas is doing the right things professionally.. thanks to fas to help brunei developing our football. may be im wrong here, but that what i think personnaly.

Re: Brunei DPMM FC 2009
i agree for the bold statement. and as a fellows, i have nuthing to argue about it. culture here totally limits to someone like me to talk and give an idea towards the development..
well, i do also like to see super reds and albirex ways of playing, and same here, dpmm still not impressing me. even when they win, i didnt feel satisfied.. i am not sure either they are improving or else, compare the way they played in the m-league, the way they played is much better..
