Default What would you do for youth development if you are President of FAS?

Presume that you had been given every freedom for your decision as FAS
President. With unlimited funds to boost Singapore youth development, what would you do?.

Wooohoooo... first and foremost... I would build up a Football Youth Academy. Something like a sports school but this one's gonna be only for football. It shall also have an internal football stadium. I'm still wondering though how admission into it is supposed to be.

On the school level, I'll divide it into four leagues which will run for quite some time. We shall have only a big league of North, East, South and West. The top four from each league will enter the Grand Nationals Finals in a 4 group consisting of four schools each. This will maximise playing time for student footballers.

Not to mention all year long mini competitions and training camps to build a football culture and to make it hip among youths... ermm lemme think some more arh

isn't this already the format for B and C Divisions? Top four for nationals and 4 groups of 4...

Actually, they need to do one simple thing. Offer scholarships (up to University) to promising footballers.

In fact, start recruit new talents from the school teams of all tertiary institutes, like the Universities and the Polys, and offer them scholarships (totally free education) in exchange for commitment in football.

Its just like Banks and Big companies offering scholarships to students in exchange for their commitment to work for them after graduation.

Because i believe, there are plenty of talents already out there, even if they were never in the youth system of FAS.

Thought Chinese on board already? U mean management committee or players?

Anyway I will make sure that the unimited funding will not go limited first ...

Then I make football as a very attractive professional career option, minimum 3k with subsidized study option. This will attract more talents.

Those who are dropped out at U18 or U21 level will be given grant for studies.

Education is important, some of them come from very good schools. We need youth with good leadership qualities and footballing brains like those from VS, RI and St Pats.

Smtg like Japan and Korea? I think it's a good idea. Allay the fears of parents of the myth that when you play football, you can't get an education.
