Wat's so great bout playing in Europe? Asian leagues need to retain some of their stars to raise the profile and standard of our leagues!

an asian keeper in Europe not easy and quite unlikely. he has to be strong in communicating, which will in turn results in presence. if his team-mate doesn't feel his presence, let alone his opponents...
had lee won jae played in Europe, would he be successful? unless he has a good command of english/french/german or spainsh, he would... look at Kawaguchi, good at japan but never made it in Europe...
anyway, back to topic, my choices:
Yasser Al-Qahtani (Saudi) at least English Championship or a small Bundesliga club standard
Therdsak Chaiman (Tha)
the late Mokhtar Dahari (Malaysia)no shit, sherlock

Dunno, I think the level in Europe is higher than in Asia, They can improve their ability and when he come back to Asia, at least they can give something for the league that they playing for..
Agree about the Goalkeeper..Just see Kurnia Sandy (Indonesia) who played for Sampdoria, Lionel Lewis got trialed in Europe as well right??..The newest is Kawin (Thailand) rumored to play in Spain with Atletico Madrid..Communication is a vital part for goalkeeper, maybe only the Aussies goalkeeper that can succeed play in Europe..(Adam Federici, Mark Schwarzer, Bradley Jones, etc)
Several Years ago, Yasser Al-Qahtani had been rumored to play in Turkey with Galatasaray if I'm not wrong..But it never been realized..Last edited by Franklamp; 13-06-2010 at 02:02 AM.

because Switzerland is predominantly German/French/Italian?
it was clear from the start that Man City and FC Zurich wasn't trial for him, it was a training stint...

Eriksson also has a Singapore goalkeeper currently training with his squad, along with Saudi Arabia captain Yasser Al Qahtani.Last edited by hairi33; 13-06-2010 at 02:42 AM.

Re: Asian Football Players Who Deserved to Play in Europe but They Weren't
Granted the player can get a starting position, or there is really no point for an Asian player to make the move.
The biggest lure for Europe clubs to sign Asian players is not the skills, or a different aspect they can bring to the game. But, the further penetration of the Asia market. Well some players have successed in Europe. Many others falter, but have brought benefits of greater exposure for the Europe club in Asia. There is no point in our players going to Europe to sit on the bench.
